Sagrada
Família is a large Roman Catholic Church in Barcelona and also Basilica and
Expiatory Church of the Holy Family. It designed by Spanish architect called
Antoni Gaudí (1852–1926). The church is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
It's one of
the best place in Spain to visit. A huge number of people are came to visit the
World Heritage site everyday.
Sagrada
Família started in 1882 and Gaudí became involved in 1883 and run the project
and transform it's with his architectural and engineering style. Gaudí was busy
with this project till his last year of his life. At the age of 73 in 1926 he
died and that time more 75 percent of this project was left.
The plan of the church is a Latin cross with five aisles. Gaudí's intention was the visitor who will be stand on the main entrance should be able to see the nave vaults, crossing and apse.
The columns of the church to mirror trees and branches everything designed by Gaudí.
The colums are such a unique design by Gaudí. To support the load of column branches, Gaudí create the ever-changing surfaces with the intersection of various geometrical forms. A three-dimensional intersection of helicoidal columns is a use of geometrical forms, for an example: the square cross-section column of the church twisting clockwise and a similar one twisting counter-clockwise.
The
progression of Sagrada Família's construction was very slow and that time it
was relied on private donations and was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War,
The next intermittent progress was in the 1950s and at last the Construction
passed on 2010. On the other hand, some of the projects are still remaining and
it will be completed by 2026, the centenary of Gaudí's death.

Essentially,
the interior surfaces are not flat. The ornamentation is comprehensive and rich,
such as a large part of abstract shapes are combining with smooth curves and
jagged points and the iron railings for balconies and stairways are full of
curvaceous elaboration.
Together
with six Gaudí buildings in Barcelona, part of the la Sagrada Família is a
UNESCO World Heritage Site, as testifying "to Gaudí’s exceptional creative
contribution to the development of architecture and building technology".
The development of constructions is same as modern constructions which are relevant
to the advance construction of the 20th century.
Visitors can
access the Nave, Crypt, Museum, Shop, and the Passion and Nativity towers.
Currently access is possible only by lift and a walk up the remainder of the
towers. From August 2010, they start a service for faster entry whereby
visitors can buy an entry code from Servicaixa ATM kiosks or online.
